Good morning, Today, I’m thrilled to share a HUGE announcement: The Texas Criminal Justice Coalition is now the Texas Center for Justice and Equity! This new name celebrates our organization’s 21-year history of working to challenge mass incarceration while lighting the way for a truly transformative future for Texas. It better embodies the scope and spirit of our work, and it is a reflection of the priorities we share: justice that focuses on transformation and community wellbeing, and equity across systems, in our communities, and in our own organizational culture. |

Rest assured: Our mission hasn’t wavered. We’ll continue fighting to end mass incarceration and build safe, healthy, thriving Texas communities. We remain committed to our work on the ground in multiple Texas counties and to advocating alongside our partners for change at the State Capitol. Over this coming year, we’ll be laser focused on the people most impacted by the criminal legal system. Already, we’re working with leaders in communities across the state as we build up the power of our Statewide Leadership Council, expand the Texas Women’s Justice Coalition, foster student leadership, and identify opportunities for system-impacted Texans to thrive. Along the way, we’ll gather stories and data, and publish research on different aspects of the justice system. |
